FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 2000

Credence Systems Credence Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: CMOS), is a manufacturer of test and analytical equipment for the global semiconductor industry. It is found in almost every electronic product from handheld devices to mainframes. ) announced today that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed offering of 2,000,000 primary shares of its common stock. The offering will be underwritten by Salomon Smith Barney Smith Barney is a division of Citigroup Global Capital Markets Inc., a global, full-service financial firm, that provides brokerage, investment banking and asset management services to corporations, governments and individuals around the world.  Inc., Credit Suisse First Boston Credit Suisse First Boston was originally the trading name of the Financière Crédit Suisse-First Boston, a London-based 50-50 investment banking joint venture formed in 1978 between the First Boston Corporation and Credit Suisse.  Corporation and SG Cowen Securities Corporation.

The Company has granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to an additional 300,000 shares, to cover the underwriters' over-allotments, if any.
