FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1996--Credence Systems Corp. today announced that Lucent Technologies Inc. has placed an order for multiple SC 212 testers valued at over $5.0 million.

These test systems will be used for wafer (1) A small, thin continuous-loop magnetic tape cartridge that has been used from time to time for data storage and specialized applications.

Lucent, which purchased its initial SC 212 systems in late 1993, is using the testers for probe applications in its Allentown, Orlando, and Madrid facilities. They also will be used for final test in the company's Singapore facility.
