Creator of Cabin Watch Fine Time Wear, Brand Name Watches. the Robert Dorsey Story.

A former United States Marine, Robert Dorsey. Robert Dorsey creates Cabin Watch Fine Time Wear. Born into the Dorsey family, November 18, 1960, to Sidney and Dorothy Dorsey, of West Philadelphia, Pa. It is remembered, on the old block, that once stood the most heavenly trees. The kid, in 1969, playing in the streets of West Philadelphia, Pa. He always said that he was going to Vietnam. Robert, like many kids of the era, would play theatrical war games in front of there houses. The battle field was the entire block, and, around the corners of Pine and Spruce Street. Robert played with his friends, Eric, Vincent Johnson, Jimmy Moore, Bartan, Matthew Winfield, Keith, and Keith Robbins. The Marines, is what Robert and his friends called, there daily war games. One day... One of them would wake up, in someone's war, thirteen thousand miles away from the United States, and will realize the reality of the games he and his friends played during the late 1960's, in the streets of west Philadelphia. The war in South East Asia, was at it's height by 1969. My brother was getting ready to graduate from high school, my other brother was already in the service, since 1966. It seemed like, he'd never get out of there. In fact, there is where it all started for Robert Dorsey. the new reality in The war in South East Asia, was at.....

My brother, Sidney Dorsey 3rd. The shine on his jump boots lead me to my dream, and dedications, since 1969. There was Philadelphia's...., the Uptown heater, the Four Tops, Diana Ross and the Supreme's. There were Proms, and and beautiful Young ladies courted by my brother's. There were house parties and dances, like the Mickies-Monkey, Stroll, and the Cha-cha...., don't forget the Crossfire to.

Hi-lit, Georgey Woods, Jerry Blavet, and Dick Clark. The Wild Wood days, were still wild on the board walk. Civil Rights protest and Dr. Martin L. King. These were all apart of Robert's development growing up, and character. There was only observing the glamour and styles of my siblings day.

Most of what I wrote above, in the last paragraph, truly should be dedicated to my one sister, Ava j. Dorsey.

Ava, who also, was an Influence, largely in my preteen years. She always had a way of guiding me... without me recognizing it to be.. She may have saved me from foolish judgments of my past, and in my younger adult years. My Mother was that way to.

It was Ava, who really got into the know of her era, the 1960's. She was always on top with styles, latest dance steps
I remember her for that time, staying in with the times. Over the years, you could see and feel styles changing. Ava in my eyes, was the poster teenager of a black girl for the 1960's.

Like the kids from Washing D.C. with the popular dance shows like Teenarama. for Ava, it was the Steel prier show on the board walk,in Atlantic City and the Uptown in Philadelphia, Pa.

By 1973, all television shows, black and white were a thing of the past. Now, television was in colour, and, some guy name Neil Armstrong, walked on the moon. By 1979, Robert graduated from John Bartram High School, in Philadelphia, Pa.

The start of his life and dreams ahead.

The disappointments that were to come. A life truly, back from the edge. The United States Marine Corps, was that dream. A dream that took him around the world, where he realized that idea's, are World wide. Robert spent most of his service at sea, through the Orients, of Asia.

It was then, on one voyage that he saw for the first time, the war torn remains of Vietnam. The place that was the role of his childhood past time. Robert learned the methods of the silk screening art.

He learned how to transfer an image to an object, through screen printing from the native Okinawain locals. In months, with permission from his command, he set up shop right in Mama/San's laundry room.(local woman who tended to the neatness of our rooms, her name was Sue.

Sue, I must say I enjoyed watching her work around the barracks. Truly, this was a kind, respectable lady. Sometimes she would pull a marine to the side and give him the cold realities of life, and love, when some of the marines were having hard times being away from there families and home.

His drawings and personal designs were all over Naha City, Japan. It put him on the map with some of the local Okinawains on island. This experience for almost two years, recalculated his way of thinking, about life, and , his future.
But, things taught to him as a boy, the wrongs, and rights, good and bad. Family Traditions, long before the reunions were largely popular. Thanks to the 1970's movie, (Roots and Alex Haley).

These were the first times I had been on my own. I learned the true ways of life that others lived. Watching and talking to other Marines from all over our Nation.

some of there back grounds lead me to realize that the world is not clear cut, and that things I was taught by my family coming up, the right and wrongs, was only for me to practice in my life.
In my ignorance, I thought that the world lived there life as I was raised to do. So, I kept my dignity and manners taught to me, but, learned to fit in with some of the touches men on earth. A life that soon saw me getting hard like them, as well.

THE REAGAN YEARS

During the Reagan years. Robert was doing well at his Banner and T-shirt design business, with the help of fellow Marines. By now he knows, that his life in college, wasn't for him...not yet.

That is a life, that was already in question, for the future of his dreams. In 1982, Robert watched the first deployment of his fellow Marines, leave for the Middle East.

The bombs were falling, and people were dying.... In a place called, War Torn, Beirut Lebanon.

This place on earth, that was truly the first act of terrorism against the United States, from a far.

The United States came to the aid of there friends, in the Far East. Corporal Robert Dorsey went to. his dreams put on hold, till, this Peace Keeping Mission was dealt with.

The Compounds were built. The first wave of Marines went in, stood there ground at the Beirut International Airport, 1982. In 1983, It was Robert's unit, to go in next. This unit was the 22nd,MAU. By the end of our tour and the aftermath, years down the line. The events had been plastered, in World wide history... For all time.

On that fateful morning, twenty-five years ago. Over 240 United States Marines, and Sailor, were attacked by a terrorist organizations, in and around, Beirut Lebanon.

Through the fire, smoke and confusion. All ended with silence. Robert came through the smoke, but, realized so many friends didn't follow. Robert had his life, his dreams, his dreams still in reach. After the Reagan years, with an Honourable Discharge and a few small ribbons on his chest, Robert decided that his career, in his beloved Marine Corps, wasn't going to last.

Months and years later. Robert still possessed, by that fateful morning. That day still sometimes stops him in his tracks, and full concentration is directed to that day, the scenes, the smells are still in his nose from time to time.

Robert has started dreaming again. His art work would become an obsession, till this day. In an interview with the former Beirut Veteran, I asked Robert if he would do the same thing today.

Knowing what he knows now. He looked over at his granddaughter, and said, how could I not? Robert Dorsey has incorporated his feelings of time and confusions of the events of that fateful day, into his daily work and business endeavours.
There is no doubt that some of his creations, like... RODOR & DORIA IMAGE, AND, CABIN WATCH, Fine Time Wear. His thoughts seem to be centered on Time, History and folklore. An experience that saw a new playing field, in America!
911 to come.

The realities of it, did catch me off guard just like everyone else in the country Robert said. That fateful day, feared by Robert, his comrades, and now, all the Nation.

The fears of the former Marines, of the 22nd MAU, and the endless nightmares they have had, has truly followed us home. Robert today has done fairly well. He's enjoyed 14 years of marriage, to his wife, Wandoria C. Dorsey.

Wandoria was the one to introduce Robert, to a thing called the Internet, and, gave him the courage to introduce a part of himself to the world, at hand. Today, Wandoria and Robert continue to use the Internet to better understand there world, in true reality, and business.

Robert's interest today, is his family, and still, Robert wants to put out that one design, that will open all eyes. His families encouragement, and his love for them, has lead Robert to put the Dorsey family in the spaces and cracks of history, folklore, and time. Robert Dorsey has one Daughter and three Grandchildren, ( Areretta, Andrea, Tony, and Antwon).

It took Robert many years to think about what he really wanted to do for a living.

His art work was fine and the governments support, has made things possible in affording his dreams and business idea's.
But, there was and old thought that has been tucking at him for years, in fact since he was a boy.

This thought had the nothing to do with his life, other then that, the person of interest had always' been the old ones.

The old one's, must all are gone now, but, there memories' of interest in life and dreams that where of there makings.

This is what I think of.

what can I resurrect from there dreams, and finish it. Would I do them proud, or would there efforts, become my burden?

Robert gave some consideration to what his wife was doing in business.

He was impressed by what he saw his wife accomplish with the Internet through the years. It took him more years to figure out what he could do with the Internet.

Robert started making plans to some how put his interest on the Internet.

Putting his idea's on the Internet was a long and enduring time. Finally, a decision was made to relocate, in preparation, for buying a new home.

After Fifteen years of living in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.

Robert decided to leave the convenience of the Veterans hospital, as an out patient for years. Leaving Doctors and friends from the Coatesville, Pa. Veterans Hospital in the next town where he and his family lived, to start a new life with his family in Delaware.

Back to the home he was raised in, in Philadelphia, Pa. Robert's Mother, Dorothy, had passed away a few years ago. Robert mentioned "I remember when I was a kid. I spent a lot of time with my mother at lunch time school break. When I came home from School, we would watch the afternoon movies, on channel forty-eight, before I had to return to school.

My Mother liked the old black and white movies from the 30's and 40's, from the years when she was a girl and young adult, watching them in the movie theatres.

Ted Turner does them now on cable television. Robert says, he believes this is where his fondness for the past, and history comes from.
Now, this is the home he moved back to in the summer of 2006, with his wife, but, there was a new master in town. His big brother.

Looking at the time on his pocket watch one day, as he was setting up in the house he was raised in.

At this point, shocked at the reason he had forgotten so many years, why he for his generation was wearing a pocket watch.

It's now the year 1996, and I'm in my mid-thirties, and wearing an old pocket watch.

For year, from country to country, around the world, and back.

It was that day I truly remembered how the watch thing started, and for what reason.

Robert finally noticed that his time piece, that has been in his pocket for years, with the golden chain that hung by his side.

This was the key, and idea.

An old idea, forgotten through the years.

Time, Time, yes Time!.. Robert thought. Robert found his product. Watches of all kinds, and prices. From the most expensive, to the most affordable for all clients.

Now, comes the theme.... CABIN WATCH, Fine Time Wear.
