Sam was, however, deemed "King for a Day" at Commodore Sloat Elementary School as he was paraded from class to class by his principal. Sam's vision of the future included less driving, less pollution and more time for recreation. In addition to winning for themselves, Sam's and Michael's schools will receive a $2,500 multimedia computer system and $500 worth of Sierra software. The contest, which ran from September through January, was used to promote Sierra's children's software line-up. To enter, kids throughout the country were asked, "How will your future be changed by computers?" Essay entries were judged by a panel of education experts and teachers on factors such as creativity, logic, and grammar. A grand prize winner was chosen from grades K-3 and from grades 4-6. Six second prize winners will each receive $250 of Sierra software for themselves and their schools. Winners can choose from over 100 different multimedia titles including the brand new Lost Mind of Dr. Brain, already voted to Children's Software Revue's All Star Software list of the 35 best software programs available.
