), a leading provider of advanced video security and surveillance solutions as well as broadband-related services, announced today that it has named Barry Simons Barry Simon (born 16 April, 1946) is an eminent American mathematical physicist and the IBM Professor of Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Caltech, known for his prolific contributions in spectral theory, functional analysis, and nonrelativistic quantum mechanics (particularly  to lead all field deployment operations of Cancable, Inc., its cable and broadband provisioning subsidiary. Barry Simons was also the President and Owner of the recently acquired XL Digital Services, Inc.

Mr. Simons, 53, will oversee the rollout of CVAS' field deployment services. This will also include the deployment of CVAS' DependableHome branded home based networked surveillance and related product offering through its internal field services deployment channel, as the Company expands to new markets in the U.S. as well as Canada. A veteran of 25 years in the telecommunications business, until 2005 he was the Chief Executive Officer of 180 Connect, a Denver, Colo.-based cable and satellite fulfillment service that he founded in 2000 and helped build into a company with over $300 million in annual revenues. Customers of 180 Connect have included Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, Cablevision, Hughes Network Services and DirecTV.

Earlier, in 1988, he founded XL Communication Services, a cable deployment services company that by 1998 was serving over 5 million subscribers in 12 locations. Mr. Simons started his career in cable in 1982 as manager of sales at Videotron Ltd., and was director of marketing at CableCasting Ltd., then one of Canada's largest cable operators, from 1983 to 1987. During his five years with CableCasting, he launched one of the first discretionary tiers in Canada (which has since become a North American industry standard) and won three industry Awards for Excellence.
