From a management perspective, behaving ethically is an integral part of long - term career success. Wide access to information and more business opportunities than in the past makes ethics a need in modern and leadership courses. As school administrators and teachers know, teaching ethics in the pre-collegiate environment is equality important and valued. Ethical awareness, ethical reasoning and ethical behavior must be part of a school's culture for all stakeholders. Creating the Ethical School is co-authored by Jonas F. Berkeley Carroll School is located in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn at three locations: 181 Lincoln Place, 701 Carroll in Brooklyn, N.Y. Not ethics proper making. Their work emerged after a three-year, co-curricular ethics project in which groups of students, teachers, administrators, parents and trustees participated in dialogues prompted by dozens of ethical dilemmas at every grade level. What is particularly useful about this book is that each case is written to demonstrate that ethical inquiry and decision-making is a complex process. The case studies could easily be used for small or large group professional development sessions as well as classroom discussion to help K-12 students better understand the ethical principles that underlie school rules and policies. The two appendices at the conclusion of the book are appropriate for school leaders. The first presents a developmental view of how preschool to high school students process and articulate what's right and wrong. The final appendix contains the specific ethical standards adopted at the Berkeley Carroll School. They can easily serve as a model for other schools.
