Creating and Publishing Online Documentation, A New Workshop Offered by UCSC Extension.

, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1998--UCSC Extension's Business and Management department presents a new workshop, Creating and Publishing Online Documentation, starting Oct. 3.

Creating and Publishing Online Documentation focuses on publishing documents for the World Wide Web, intranets and Windows Help systems Windows provides a help system that most software developers use to provide immediate help to the users of their Windows applications. The help is displayed by pressing F1 or selecting the Help menu in the application. . This workshop covers both design and implementation in terms of both process and tools.

In this workshop students will discuss topics such as: basic concepts needed to create and publish online documents, current and future issues and trends related to online publishing, Introduction to HTML HTML
 in full HyperText Markup Language

Markup language derived from SGML that is used to prepare hypertext documents. Relatively easy for nonprogrammers to master, HTML is the language used for documents on the World Wide Web.
 Help, issues around cross-platform (software, hardware) cross-platform - A term that describes a language, software application or hardware device that works on more than one system platform (e.g. Unix, Microsoft Windows, Macintosh). E.g. Netscape Navigator, Java.  and cross-browser publishing and a variety of authoring tools for creating online documents.

This three meeting workshop meets at UCSC UCSC University of California, Santa Cruz (since 1965; Santa Cruz, California)

UCSC University of Colombo School of Computing (Colombo, Sri Lanka) 
 Extension's Cupertino site located at 10420 Bubb Rd. on Saturdays beginning Oct. 3 through Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will submit their homework electronically in the HTML format.
