Cray Inc. Wins Supercomputer Order From Warsaw University.

Global supercomputer leader Cray Inc. (Nasdaq:CRAY) today announced an order for a 32-processor Cray SV1(TM) supercomputer system from Warsaw University's Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modeling (ICM ICM Intercom

), Warsaw, Poland. The order includes options for upgrades to future Cray Inc. technologies. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Cray SV1 system, to be installed this year in the ICM facility, will be used to enhance national weather forecasts for Poland and to support leading-edge research in the mathematical, natural and computational sciences. "ICM is a former finalist for the prestigious Computerworld-Smithsonian Award, honoring the world's greatest achievements in science. We are proud to be associated with this world-class operational and research facility," said Barry Utting, managing director for Cray Europe.

The Cray SV1 supercomputer was one of the Cray systems named "Best Supercomputers" for 2000 by the readership of Scientific Computing & Instrumentation magazine.
