Hockey

Kyle Gustafson scored three goals as the Eugene Thunder snapped a 1-1 tie with a third-period flurry that gave them a 5-1 victory over the Puget Sound Kings on Saturday in Tacoma.

The Thunder, 19-4-0, have won 10 straight games and 14 of their past 15.

Gustafson's second goal, off a pass from Powell Gallagher and Jake Trost at the 3:29 mark of the third, gave the Thunder a 3-1 lead. Gallagher had scored the go-ahead goal on a pass from Gustafson 23 seconds earlier.

Adam Seward and Dan Yuhas added goals for the Thunder to put the game out of reach.

Gustafson scored on a pass from Mark Demmer with 3:01 gone in the first period. The Kings tied the score on a Shane White goal in the second period before Eugene pulled away in the third.

Jeff Mufhen made 28 saves for the Thunder, who play against the Portland Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lane County Ice.

Men's basketball

Bryan Jolly scored 20 points to lead Columbia Basin Community College to an 84-81 double-overtime victory over Lane on Saturday at O'Hara Catholic School.

Dave Brautigam led Lane with 33 points, hitting 11-of-13 free throws, and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Paul Miller added 16 points for the Titans, and Keith Baker scored 12.

Zach White and Andy Harper scored 17 points apiece for the Hawks, who shot 53 percent from the field in the victory.

Women's basketball

Sandra Isbell scored 20 points in 19 minutes, and Lindsay Admire added 17 to lead Lane Community College to a 105-39 thrashing of the Pacific junior varsity on Saturday night in Forest Grove.

Nicole Brown added 15 points and Jenny Pippa 14 for the Titans, who improved to 3-0 overall.

Lane forced Pacific into 49 turnovers.

Talisha Rath rath (rä, räth), circular hill fort protected by earthworks, used by the ancient Irish in the pre-Christian era as a retreat in time of danger.  had eight points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Titans. Megan Wall led Pacific, 2-2 overall, with 12 points.

College wrestling

Oregon's Eric Webb and Jason Harless each finished in seventh place to lead Oregon to a 14th-place finish at the 25-team Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday.

Oregon State got a fourth-place finish from Casey Horn at 141 pounds to lead Oregon State to a ninth-place finish with 73 1/2 points.

The Ducks scored 53 points. Michigan won the meet with 153 points, and West Virginia was second with 122.

Horn lost the third-place final to Chad Caros of Edinboro College 6-4 after losing in the semifinals to Cedric Haymon of Cal Poly.

Webb, wrestling in the heavyweight division, defeated John Testa of Clarion College 6-3, and Harless defeated Cole Province of Central Oklahoma at 133 pounds.

Brian Watson finished eighth at 141 pounds, falling to Mark Hamrick of Wyoming, 3-2.

Eugene Harris fell to Chris Vitale of Lehigh 6-5 in a semifinal match at 165 pounds, and Shane Webster lost 4-3 to Jake Huffman of Oregon State.

Also placing for Oregon State were Isaac Weber, fifth at 184 pounds, Andy Bowlby, fifth at heavyweight, and Jake Huffman, eighth at 174.

The Ducks and Beavers square off in a Pac-10 match on Dec. 12.

College swimming

College volleyball

Kim Willoughby had 35 kills to lead 11th-ranked Hawaii to a 30-22, 28-30, 30-20, 30-28 victory over Eastern Washington in a second-round NCAA Tournament match on Saturday at Bohler Gym in Pullman, Wash.

The Eagles, who finished the season at 21-6, had three Marist graduates on their roster - Casey Evans, who had seven digs, Jamie Carmichael and Megan Kitterman, who had one kill.

Prep football

Marshall Woods ran for 212 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries as Dufur beat St. Paul 30-8 Saturday in the Class 1A football championship in Hillsboro.

The Rangers captured its third consecutive championship.
