Crain Communications Moves Its Corporate Headquarters.

DETROIT -- Crain Communications Inc will relocate its company headquarters and Detroit based publications to 1155 Gratiot Avenue, Brewery Park Phase II in Detroit on December 3, 2001. Crain becomes the building's lead tenant, occupying approximately 100,000 square feet of space-most of the 4th and all of the 5th floors. The five-story, first-class building has 224,000 square feet of office space. The company plans to take additional space for its circulation department over the next few years as it becomes available.

"We are excited and pleased about this move. Our close proximity to one of the City's most vibrant development areas is good for our employees and our business," said company Chairman Keith Crain.

Bounded by I-75, I-375 and Gratiot Avenue, the office is located near the new Ford Field development, Harmonie Park, DAC and Opera House and is directly adjacent to the historic Eastern Market district. Crain Communications Inc has a major ownership in the building. The move allows for implementation of a long-term real estate plan for the Crain Communications world headquarters and is an opportunity to consolidate its Detroit-based employees into one facility.

"Our growth in recent years has filled our current building locations on Woodbridge and Jefferson Avenues," said Crain. "It has been our long-term goal to combine all of our employees in one location and this move allows us to address these space needs."

The company has moved approximately 250 of its Detroit-based employees to Brewery Park including its publication and administrative staffs. It plans to move its circulation and customer service department employees to the new building over the next 24-36 months. Until additional space is available at the new site, employees not moving to Brewery Park will be based in the company's currently owned Woodbridge Ave. building, which it plans to sell once all employees have been moved. Its Jefferson Ave. building has been sold.

Headquartered in Detroit, Mich., Crain Communications Inc publishes over 30 consumer, business and trade publications, including Detroit-based Automotive News, AutoWeek, and Crain's Detroit Business as well as Advertising Age, Modern Healthcare, Plastics News, business weeklies in Chicago, Cleveland and New York and numerous related business Web sites.
