Craig Howie Appointed Controller of American Re-Insurance Company.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- American Re-Insurance Company announced today that Craig Howie was appointed Controller, with responsibility for management of the company's Financial Reporting Department.

Mr. Howie was most recently manager of the Financial Operations Department, which includes the Purchasing and Payroll, Reinsurance Security, Corporate Tax and Financial Analysis units. He will retain management oversight of these units.

"During his sixteen years with American Re, Craig Howie has provided outstanding leadership within the Financial Services Division, assuming positions of increasing responsibility," said Steven Levy, Chief Financial Officer. "We are pleased to have someone of Craig's caliber to assume the Controller position."

Prior to joining American Re in 1989, Mr. Howie was a Senior Tax Consultant with Ernst & Young. He is a CPA and holds an MBA in Taxation from Villanova University, a B.S. in Accounting from Drexel University and an ARe designation. Mr. Howie also serves on The College of New Jersey Business School Board of Advisors and was Chairman of the Reinsurance Association of America Tax Committee from 2002 to 2004.
