CRAFTY folk can learn new skills at a series of workshops.

Classes in felt making, basket weaving Basket weaving (or basket making, basketry, or basketmaking) is the process of weaving unspun vegetable fibers into a basket. People with the profession of weaving baskets are basketmakers.  and permaculture per·ma·cul·ture

A system of perennial agriculture emphasizing the use of renewable natural resources and the enrichment of local ecosystems.

 are being organised by the Scotswood Natural Community Garden.

Visitors can learn to make a unique piece of felt from start to finish at a class on February 7, from 10am to 1pm, at St Margaret's Church.

Then, on February 14, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, people can learn to make a simple willow basket.

Course fees are pounds 30 and a deposit of pounds 15 is needed. A two-day Introduction to Permaculture course will be held on April 10 and 11.
