Cradle Technologies Multiprocessor DSP Selected for General Solutions' DigiOp Network Video Streamer.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Surveillance Industry Leader Chooses Cradle for Its Performance, Flexibility and Scalability

Cradle Technologies and General Solutions today announced that General Solutions' production release of their new DigiOp(TM) network video streamer is based on the Cradle CT3400 Multiprocessor DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive . DigiOp is a 4-channel video and audio network streaming device that implements MPEG-4 real-time video encoding with synchronized audio and the compete IP network stack and integrates completely with the DigiOp DVR (1) (Digital Video Recorder) A device that records video onto a hard disk from one or more ceiling mounted video cameras. Part of a security system, the DVR typically supports 4, 8 or 16 separate camera channels.  line.

"As a leader in digital video equipment for the surveillance environment, it was essential for us to create a DigiOp product based on the leading high-performance DSP technologies available for surveillance," said J.D. Story, CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. See CIO and salary survey.  General Solutions Ltd. "Our customers are demanding more performance, more flexible codec options, and more I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.

flexibility. The performance, flexibility and scalability of the Cradle product line were the key factors in our decision."

"It was precisely for flexible systems such as DigiOp that we developed our scalable multiprocessor DSP technology," said Chuck Fox, senior vice-president Marketing, Cradle Technologies. "Our MDSP MDSP Maryland State Police

Additionally, it offers advanced motion detection with selectable parameters for area, intensity and velocity for "perfect" motion detection. The NVR is compatible with DigiOp Remote Manager and DigiOp Server to support remote viewing, recording and configuration. It offers the flexibility to support 1, 2 or 4 channels of MPEG-4 at CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. CIF formats are defined by their resolution, and standards both above and below the original resolution have been established. The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF).  or D1 resolution providing up to four times the resolution of more commonly deployed MPEG-4 network streamers. Firmware can be sent over the Ethernet to reconfigure this versatile NVR to suit any situation.

The Cradle CT3400 MDSP is used to perform MPEG-4 video compression and audio processing. The chip is also responsible for processing video and audio content into Ethernet packets and sending them over the network through its 10/100 Ethernet MAC. The uniquely flexible I/O subsystem on the CT3400 is also used to provide input and output ports for sensors and relays, as well as the control signals needed to remotely manage a PTZ camera.

About the Cradle CT3400 Multiprocessor DSP

Cradle's CT3400 is a C-programmable multiprocessor DSP (MDSP) comprising eight 32-bit DSP cores, six 32-bit general purpose processor cores, and a flexible 128-pin programmable I/O subsystem. The platform provides a flexible and integrated media processor that can support the newest H.264 and MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Pronounced "em-peg," it is the universal standard for digital terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, DVDs and digital video recorders (DVRs). 4 codecs. The CT3400's programmable I/O and RISC RISC

, Hard Disk, Wireless, Video/Audio Ports, Image Sensor Interfaces, and other general purpose I/O. The loosely coupled MDSP gives the customer reduced system cost, faster time-to-market, and higher product differentiation. Primary applications for the CT3400 include surveillance cameras, surveillance streamers and surveillance digital video recorders.

About MPEG-4

ISO/IEC ISO/IEC International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ITU-T M 3000)  MPEG-4 is an international standard for coding audio-visual information in a digital compressed format. Primarily designed to handle content up to approximately 4 Mbps, applications for the MPEG-4 standard are in the areas of IP-based streaming media, conversational appliances such as videophones, and broadcast television. MPEG-4 files can mix video with text, graphics and 2-D and 3-D animation layers.
