Teenage striker Tom Craddock scored twice as Boro's youthful reserve side recorded a convincing 3-1 win against Bolton Wanderers last night.

Lively winger Adam Johnson, who made his senior debut for Boro at Sporting Lisbon last week, also netted in the match, which was played at Preston.

Boro, with reserve team top scorer Danny Graham playing up front following his recent senior run-outs, were the better side from the start, though the first half finished goalless.

Boro almost made the breakthrough within seconds of the restart when Lee Cattermole hit the post with a low drive.

But Boro broke through in 49 minutes following a superb run from Jason Kennedy, who set up Craddock for a tap-in.

Ten minutes later Christophe Lemaire, Craddock and Graham combined for Johnson to score.

James Sinclair reduced the arrears but Boro completed the scoring when Craddock finished off a through ball from Jonathan Grounds.

There were several fine performances, Kennedy impressing in midfield and Seb Hines and David Wheater strong in defence. Team:
