Cox Interactive Media Acquires 10 Percent Ownership Stake in Enkia.

CIMedia, Enkia to jointly develop artificial intelligence product

Cox Interactive Media (CIMedia) announced today that it has acquired a 10 percent ownership stake in Enkia Corporation, a developer of patent-pending artificial intelligence technology. The investment was made through CIMedia's parent company, Cox Enterprises, Inc.

CIMedia also announced that it has entered into a technology licensing agreement with Enkia to jointly develop a proprietary artificial intelligence product. Planned for release later this year, the product will interface between Internet sites and individuals. The unique technology can quickly discern where the consumer wants to go, and recommends sites and products that are relevant to the individual's needs.

"It is very difficult for the average Internet user to digest the tremendous amount of content available on the Internet," said Dr. Ashwin Ram, CEO of Enkia. "With our product, Internet content providers will be able to help their users make sense of the information available on their sites."

A member company of the Georgia Institute of Technology Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) since September 1999, Enkia is committed to making the next generation of information browsers smarter and more effective.

As part of this agreement, Keith Herndon, CIMedia vice president of planning and product development, will serve on the Enkia board of directors. This seat will help support development of Enkia's new products by leveraging the Internet expertise of CIMedia.
