Cox Communications to Unscramble HBO Signal on Veterans Day for ``Last Letters Home: Voices of American Troops from the Battlefields Of Iraq''.

SAN DIEGO -- They're the voices of American troops from the battlefields of Iraq. They're powerful documents that bring to life the soldiers who wrote them. They're the last letters sent home to loved ones. The authors are eight men and two women of different ages, backgrounds, ranks and service branches, yet they share one common thread - they all died fighting the war in Iraq.

On Thursday, Nov. 11, from 9-10 p.m., in honor of Veterans Day, Cox Communications will unscramble its HBO signal for all of its basic cable customers for the debut of "Last Letters Home: Voices of American Troops From the Battlefields of Iraq," a poignant documentary tribute to America's fallen troops. This free preview will air on Channel 54 (South), Channel 31 (North), Channel 16 (Pine Valley), and Channel 200 for digital cable customers. The one-hour special, produced by HBO and The New York Times, in association with LIFE Books, focuses on 10 families who share the last letters they received from their husbands, sons, daughters, and siblings stationed in Iraq. In some instances, the letters arrived after news of their loved one's death.

To make this Veterans Day tribute available to the largest possible audience, HBO opened its signal to cable operators nationwide. "Last Letters Home" is rated TV-PG.

Inspired by a series of New York Times op-ed articles that featured excerpts of letters from troops to their families in 2003 and 2004, "Last Letters Home" was directed by Academy Award-winning director Bill Couturie, whose credits include the Emmy-winning HBO documentary "Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam," and the HBO documentary "Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt" for which he won an Oscar. The "Last Letters Home" project will include the sale of a DVD and 128-page companion book. All net profits from the book and DVD sales will go to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund for the spouses and children of our fallen troops.
