Better Customer Service and More Value for Tucson Area Residents

Cox Communications, Inc., today announced the launch of Cox Digital Telephone, offering Tucson area consumers a better choice in local telephone service. Cox Digital Telephone is available immediately to over 200,000 households in the Tucson-Green Valley area.

Recognized as an industry leader, Cox was one of the first cable television companies to offer local telephone service via its facilities following the 1996 Telecommunications Act. The Act allows cable television companies to enter into the local telephone market and provide effective competition. With the launch of Cox Digital Telephone in Tucson, Cox has further expanded the full slate of advanced communications services available for Tucson residents and area businesses, which already includes digital cable television and high-speed Internet access. Nationwide, Tucson marks the 11th market in which Cox provides local and long distance digital telephone service.

Customers Prefer a Bundle

In 2002, a Cox customer survey reported that 41 percent of Cox customers in Tucson said they would be "very interested" in bundled services from Cox. As part of Cox's commitment to value, Cox customers who subscribe to two or more Cox services receive additional savings on their local and long distance telephone service every month. Furthermore, Cox customers can call one phone number to discuss their cable, high-speed Internet and digital telephone services. And within a couple of months Cox customers can choose the convenience of receiving one bill for all of their communications services.

Existing Cox Tucson customers will pay just $11.75 per month for a Cox Digital Telephone line - 11 percent less than Qwest. And a second phone line will be only $8.50, which is 20 percent lower than Qwest's second line rate.

Arizona customers also will enjoy easy pricing plans that allow for unlimited free local calls. Additionally, Cox will charge one low price of 10 cents per minute, 24 hours a day, including local toll calls, as opposed to Qwest, which charges up to 14 cents per minute. Cox also has additional call plans for as low as 5 cents per minute.

Special calling features - such as voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, privacy control and other ancillary services - will be available, and customers who sign up for more than one feature will receive additional discounts.

Customers who sign up now will also receive free installation, a savings of $24.95. Furthermore, new customers will receive 3 months free call waiting ID (call waiting plus caller ID), an additional savings of $27. And to make the better choice even easier, Cox will guarantee customer satisfaction; should a customer not be satisfied, Cox will refund the first month charges on the primary phone line, excluding local toll and long distance charges.

Cox also offers competitive long distance rates - on par with the lowest competitive rates in the industry. This is a benefit Qwest cannot provide, as it does not offer long distance service in Arizona.
