: COX) today announced the June 1, 2004 launch of Cox Digital Telephone in Northern Virginia Northern Virginia (NoVA) consists of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties and the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, and Manassas Park. . This marks the 13th telephony market nationwide for Cox, furthering its commitment to providing a high-quality, full-featured alternative to incumbent local and long distance service providers. Cox Communications is already the third largest local exchange carrier in Virginia, with existing service in two other Cox markets - Hampton Roads Hampton Roads, roadstead, 4 mi (6.4 km) long and 40 ft (12.2 m) deep, SE Va., through which the waters of the James, Nansemond, and Elizabeth rivers pass into Chesapeake Bay.  and Roanoke.

In 1997, Cox successfully pioneered cable telephone via circuit-switched technology, the same technology that will deliver high-quality, full-featured telephone service to residents in Northern Virginia. Today, Cox Digital Telephone has more than 1 million residential and commercial customers across 12 telephone markets. In 2003, Cox received highest honors in J.D. Power and Associates' 2003 Residential Local Telephone Customer Satisfaction Study in the Western Region.

Cox continues to demonstrate strong telephony growth. In 2003, Cox grew its residential telephone customers by nearly 40 percent.
