Cowboy hat banned in the saloon; POLICY BLOW FOR COUNTRY MUSIC FAN TOLD HE LOOKS LIKE CLINT EASTWOOD.

COUNTRY and Western fan Alistair Ross was left high and dry when a pub refused to serve him - because he was wearing a 10-gallon hat.

Fireman Alistair, of Saunton Road, Rugby, stopped for a drink at the Town Crier CRIER. The barman took one look at his stetson and said he was breaking the pub's "no hats" policy and couldn't serve him unless he took it off.

Alistair who was with his wife Linda, decided to take his hat - and his custom - elsewhere.

"We went to another pub and I asked the barman if he'd serve me wearing my hat," he said.

"Well he looked at me as if I was a bit soft and said 'of course we will!'"

Alistair, aged 50, said he was disappointed the pub had taken exception to his favourite cowboy hat, which is the pride of his 20- hat collection.

He said: "I wouldn't have minded if I was scruffy scruff·y
