Covigo Names Mobile & Wireless Products Targeted at Enterprises and Wireless Operators.

Covigo, Inc., a leading provider of adaptive software for developing and deploying mobile, web and portal applications, today announced that the Covigo Platform will now be named as two separate products -- Covigo Mobility Suite for Enterprises and Covigo Mobility Suite for Operators.

Covigo Mobility Suite for Enterprises is geared toward enterprises and also to independent software vendors, systems integrators, device manufacturers and value-added resellers providing solutions and applications to enterprises. Specific features of this product include:

-- Smart Client for transactional device-resident applications

-- Two-way business object synchronization between server and

terminals

-- Support for multiple networks, including Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi,

802.11), 2.5G (GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) The first high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that used the GSM technology. GPRS added a packet-switched channel to GSM, which uses dedicated, circuit-switched channels for voice conversations. ), 3G, IP

-- Single-authoring for 800+ terminals, including laptops and

handhelds such as Pocket PC, Palm, RIM, Symbian, Nokia, Symbol

and more

-- Visual development environment with process modelling

-- Integration framework with multiple pre-built connectors

-- Support for open standards, including Web Services, J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) A platform from Sun for building distributed enterprise applications. J2EE services are performed in the middle tier between the user's machine and the enterprise's databases and legacy information systems.  and

Covigo Mobility Suite for Operators is geared toward operators and also to independent software vendors and systems integrators providing solutions, applications and services to operators. Specific features of this product include:

-- Single-authoring and device independence for over 800 mobile

devices, including devices from Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, HP,

RIM, Symbian, Palm, Handspring, Panasonic, Alcatel and others.

-- Automatic detection of connecting device type for over 800

devices.

-- Two-way messaging between servers and devices over MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) An enhanced transmission service that enables graphics, video clips and sound files to be transmitted via cellphones. Developed as part of the 3GPP project, MMS phones are generally backward compatible with SMS and EMS. , SMS (1) (Storage Management System) Software used to routinely back up and archive files. (2) (Systems Management Server) Systems management software from Microsoft that runs on Windows NT Server.
