: COV), a leading global provider of healthcare products, today announced that its Surgical Devices business unit has launched the Endo Clip [TM] III 5 millimeter clip applier in the United States, Japan and throughout Europe. The new 5mm clip applier features a host of innovative improvements, including the revolutionary Clip Logic[TM] Technology, which is designed to meet the challenge of clip loading and feeding in an entirely new and novel manner.

"The greatest breakthrough comes through the invention of Clip Logic[TM] Technology. This innovative new design allows for more consistent clip formation, improved clip feeding and general instrument versatility," said Scott Flora, President, Surgical Devices, Covidien. "Clip Logic[TM] Technology allows the surgeon to concentrate on the procedure, not the instrument," added Flora.

The Endo Clip[TM] III also features greater clip size, slip resistant grips, and increased shaft length. Further, the Covidien Endo Clip[TM] III features a digital clip counter that displays the precise number of remaining clips in an easy to read, illuminated digital format. Unique among clip appliers, the digital clip counter can help to reduce operating costs by minimizing unnecessary opening of additional instruments.
