Covergence Delivers 3rd Party Call Control for Microsoft Office Communicator and BroadSoft BroadWorks.


MAYNARD, Mass. -- Service Providers Using BroadSoft's BroadWorks Can Now Offer Subscribers the Ability to Make and Receive Calls Using Their Office Communicator to Control Their Telephone

Covergence, the first company to deliver a unified security and management solution for applications and services based on the Session Initiation Protocol (protocol) Session Initiation Protocol - (SIP) A very simple text-based application-layer control protocol. It creates, modifies, and terminates sessions with one or more participants. Such sessions include Internet telephony and multimedia conferences.

 (SIP), announced today the availability of 3rd party call control (3PCC PCC prothrombin complex concentrate. ) between Microsoft's(R) Office Communicator and BroadSoft's BroadWorks VoIP application platform.

Eclipse(TM), a high-performance SIP security and management solution that resides at the edge of the service providers' network, was purpose-built to secure and manage subscriber access to SIP services, including both hosted VoIP and hosted LCS LCS - Language for Communicating Systems . Now with integrated 3rd party call control, service providers can offer subscribers the ability to make and receive calls using their Office Communicator or other Microsoft Office Microsoft's primary desktop applications for Windows and Mac. Depending on the package, it includes some combination of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook along with various Internet and other utilities.  applications, such as Outlook.

With Eclipse, subscribers can now take advantage of all Microsoft Third Party Call Control functionality which enables Windows Communicator clients to place calls between registered SIP telephony SIP enabled PBXes and/or SIP User Agents utilize the Session Initiation Protocol(SIP) to interconnect and to establish voice sessions between each other over an IP Network. SIP Telephony has emerged as a viable alternative to legacy (TDM) and fixed-line circuits for the establishment and  endpoints using BroadWorks and place calls between any PSTN-enabled phones (wired line, mobile phones, etc) via standard SIP gateways. In addition, subscribers will be able to take advantage of a myriad of features including the ability to: place calls on hold; conference in third parties; transfer calls; use click-to-call dialing when calling other parties; single click to begin a conference call via the BroadWorks conferencing bridge; accept incoming calls to the desk phone using the Communicator client; and redirect calls to any other desktop or mobile telephone.
