Monday's stock option trading was lead by Bell Atlantic (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :BEL) which gained 2 points on the week to close Friday at $56 5/8. BP Amoco p.l.c. (formerly, British Petroleum Co. p.l.c.) was next on the active list. BP Amoco's new ticker symbol is (NYSE:BPA BPA British Paediatric Association. ). Inktomi Corp., Amazon.com, and GTE Corp. rounded off the top of the most actives list. Inktomi (Nasdaq:INKT INKT Inktomi, Inc. (stock abbreviation, AMEX) INKT I Never Knew That ) gained 27 points on the week. Amazon.com (Nasdaq:AMZN AMZN Amazon.com (NASDAQ symbol) ) gained over 25% this week and GTE (NYSE:GTE) ended the week down less than 1 point. Tuesday found CBS (NYSE:CBS), which gained a point on the week, on top of the most active stock options list. Options on Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) were also actively traded Tuesday. Disney shares gained about 1 1/2 points on the week. Next came Intel Corp., CompUSA, Inc. and Microsoft. Also, on the most actives was MCIWorldCom (Nasdaq:WCOM) which gained 4 points on the week to $75. On top the most active options table on Wednesday were various internet stocks. Namely, Lycos Inc., At Home, Broadcom and CMGI. And all were up significantly for the week. For the week, Lycos (Nasdaq:LCOS) gained over 30 points to $91 3/4; At Home (Nasdaq:ATHM) also gained 30 points to $108 3/4; Broadcom gained over $50 points to $179 1/4; and CMGI (Nasdaq:CMGI) gained a stunning 94 points to $200. On top of the most actives Thursday were the internet related issues again, including MindSpring Enterprises, EarthLink Network, E-Trade Group, and OnSale, Inc. On the week, Mindspring (Nasdaq:MSPG) gained 32 points to $93; EarthLink (Nasdaq:ELNK) gained 26 points to $82 3/4; E-Trade (Nasdaq:EGRP) gained 20 points to $67 1/2; and OnSale (Nasdaq:ONSL) gained over 11 points to $51 3/4. Wrapping up the week, Friday found General Electric, Borders Group (an operator of book and music superstores), Citigroup, SBC Communications, and Cisco Systems. On the week, GE (NYSE:GE) ended about even; Borders (NYSE:BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) The routing protocol that is used to span autonomous systems on the Internet.
