The following stocks had active stock option volume this past week: America Online, Cisco and Iomega were near the top of the most active option trading board several of the days this week. Established in 1971 by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), NASDAQ is an automated quotation system that reports on : CSCO CSCO Cisco Systems Incorporated (stock symbol) CSCO Chief Supply Chain Officer ) started the week around $63 and closed today above $67, while Iomega (NYSE: IOM IOM See: Index and Option Market ) advanced nearly 50% for the week. Iomega announced this week its plans to expand its market for ZIP drives. Other highly actives this week included MCI (1) (Media Control Interface) A high-level programming interface from Microsoft and IBM for controlling multimedia devices. It provides commands and functions to open, play and close the device. (2) (Microwave Communications Inc. WorldCom (NASDAQ: WCOM WCOM MCI/Worldcom (stock symbol) WCOM Windows Component Object Model WCOM Wireless Communication ) which was extremely active on Wednesday. Republic Industries (NYSE: RII) options were also active Wednesday, a day on which a U.S. District Judge overturned a $50 million jury award against it. Intel Corp. (NASDAQ: INTC) and Dell Computer (NASDAQ:DELL) were also among the heavily traded on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Dell jointly announced with Network Appliance (NASDAQ:NTAP) that the companies had entered into an agreement making Dell the first computer vending company to bring Network's storage technology to the Windows NT(R) and Windows 2000(R) market. Microsoft was on the most active board on Thursday. On Thursday, Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) announced it had acquired LinkExchange Inc. a company which provides web site marketing services (including those banner ads you see on many web sites). Also on the most actives Thursday was Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) which on Monday completed its merger with Norwest to become the nation's seventh-largest bank. Goldman Sachs added Wells Fargo to its recommended list on Thursday. Friday wrapped up the week with Phillip Morris (NYSE: MO), and once again Dell, Iomega, Microsoft, and Cisco at the top of most actively traded.
