Coverage for Long-Term Care Insurance is a Priority for Many Californians.

A record 5,500 Californians applied for long-term care long-term care (LTC),
n the provision of medical, social, and personal care services on a recurring or continuing basis to persons with chronic physical or mental disorders.

Bonta, R.N., Dr.P.H, today announced.

"Since these long-term care policies were first offered in 1994, sales have increased at an impressive rate," Bonta said. "The sales record reflects California's rapidly aging population and growing need for long-term care insurance."

Nearly half of all seniors will need long-term care at some time in their lives, yet few are financially prepared for this possibility, according to according to

 CPLTC. The cost of long-term care can have a significant financial effect on retirement savings and leave seniors dependent upon family members for care.

CPLTC works with select private insurance carriers to provide Californians with affordable, high-quality, long-term care insurance. Since 1998, applications have increased steadily. All CPLTC policies meet stringent standards. In addition, they are the only long-term care policies sold in California that contain a lifetime asset protection feature.
