In most financial contracts, counterparty risk is known as default risk.

WHAT:
In January 2005, the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group
convened to organize for a second time. Composed of senior officials
from the major financial institutions, the Group, drawing on the work
of its first incarnation in 1999, examined what additional steps
should be taken by the private sector to promote the efficiency,
effectiveness and stability of the global financial system.

The Group's conclusions are documented in an extensive report to be
released Wednesday, July 27th.

WHO:
The Group is chaired by E Gerald Corrigan, a Managing Director at
Goldman Sachs, who will present the Group's conclusions. He will be
accompanied by the Group's Vice Chair, David Bushnell, Senior Risk
Officer, Citigroup and Don M. Wilson, Senior Risk Officer, JPMorgan
Chase
