Mr. Freeze can bit your bird like a ton of bricks in the mountains of Afghanistan or in the Iraqi desert at night. Always cover the tubes when cold weather heads your way.

If you leave the cover off in cold weather, moisture will get inside the tubes and freeze. Ice in the tubes means your airspeed indicator An instrument which displays the indicated airspeed of the aircraft derived from inputs of pitot and static pressures.  will be thrown off.
