COVENTRY suffered a second successive defeat at the annual English Schools FA Festival on the Isle of Wight when losing 2-0 to a strong Cambridge side.

The first half was keenly contested in windy conditions at Cowes but midway through Coventry went behind to a penalty and Cambridge sealed the win with a second-half lob.

The previous day the City youngsters were beaten 5-2 defeat by Plymouth, who had the game won by the break as they raced into a 4-1 lead. An own goal by Joe Bradley was the sole crumb of comfort for Coventry.

Manny Hay reduced the arrears with a clever overhead volley in the second period but Coventry struggled to create opportunities as Plymouth sealed a convincing victory with a last-minute strike.
