Standard Emphasizes Covansys' Ongoing Commitment

Covansys Corporation (Nasdaq: CVNS), a global consulting and technology services company, today announced that its subsidiary, Covansys India Private Limited, has been awarded the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 certificate of approval for their Chennai and Bangalore development centers by auditors from KPMG. This certification replaces the ISO 9001:1994 certification awarded to the company in 1995.

This certificate of approval adds to Covansys' growing list of achievements. In 2002, the company's three development centers in India were assessed at Level 5 of the People Capability Maturity Model (PCMM), and in 1999, two of the three achieved SEI-CMM(R) Level 5 on their first assessment. These three distinctions are a testament to Covansys' continual improvements, and the company's ability to meet its customers' needs effectively and efficiently.

ISO 9001:2000, considered the gold standard of quality assurance, has replaced the existing ISO 9001:1994 standard, making it obsolete. Specific requirements of this certification include analysis, design, development, maintenance and support for applications throughout various industries.

Mr. Sajiv, lead assessor, KPMG, spearheaded the ISO 9001:2000 certification audit, utilizing a team of three auditors. The audit included review of Covansys' quality management system and project audits, all selected at random.

The certification will also require KPMG to conduct surveillance audits every six months over the next three years while the certification is valid.
