Covad Communications Adds Symmetric DSL, SDSL, Services to Portfolio.


SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1998--Covad Communications Company, the first Packet Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (PCLEC PCLEC Packet Competitive Local Exchange Carrier ) and a leading provider of digital communications services, today announced it has extended its high-speed data offerings to include Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) is a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) variant with E1-like data rates (72 to 2320 kbit/s). Two new SDSL offerings, TeleSpeed(SM) 192 and TeleSpeed(SM) 768, are now available and provide symmetric upstream and downstream speeds of 192Kbps and 768Kbps respectively.

TeleSpeed 192 is an entry-level SDSL alternative to Covad's existing TeleSpeed 144 IDSL service, providing an easy migration path to higher speed services without a change of customer equipment as companies grow and bandwidth demands increase. TeleSpeed 768 enables Covad's corporate customers and Internet Service Provider Internet service provider (ISP)
