Cousins Properties Names New Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

Cousins Properties Incorporated (NYSE:CUZ), one of the foremost diversified real estate development companies in the U.S., announced that James A. Fleming has joined the company as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Mr. Fleming replaces Tom G. Charlesworth who was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer in January, 2001.

Mr. Fleming is a highly regarded professional, lecturer, author and civic leader with approximately 20 years of distinguished business experience. For the past seven years, Mr. Fleming has been a partner in Fleming & Ray, LC, an Atlanta-based law firm he founded in 1994 that specializes in commercial real estate. As a real estate attorney, Mr. Fleming was responsible for the acquisition, development, leasing and financing of office, retail, multi-family, hotel, industrial and mixed-use projects, as well as land and single-family subdivisions. Previously, he spent twelve years with the law firm of Long, Aldridge & Norman where he was Managing Partner from 1991-1993. Mr. Fleming received his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia in 1982.

Jim Fleming has served as an Executive Committee Member of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia since 1997 and was the chair of the Real Estate Section of the Atlanta Bar Association for 2000-2001. He previously served as Chairman of the Real Property Law Seminar at the State Bar of Georgia's Annual Meeting, and served on the committee appointed by the Georgia Department of Revenue to draft Georgia's intangibles tax regulations. He authored the book, Georgia Landlord & Tenant - Lease Forms and Clauses (2nd Ed.), and several articles for The Atlanta Business Chronicle, Georgia State Bar Journal and Virginia Law Review.

Mr. Fleming has been a panel moderator and lecturer before the Atlanta Bar Association, Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Georgia. He is also Past Chairman of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Atlanta and Past Vice-Chairman, Board of Trustees, North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
