Court section of 2005 Journal directory is online.
With the eventual goal of phasing out the printed directory in favor of Web publication, last year "the court section and several other sections were removed from the 2004 directory, and the information was made available exclusively online.
Many members expressed dissatisfaction with the deletion of the court section, citing that it was handier in printed form. Several letters to the editor in the News The Martin County requested that the section be reinserted in the 2005 directory. Bar Association passed a resolution supporting the reinstatement of the judge' section.
In light of the membership outcry to restore the court section, the Communications Committee and the Board of Governors voted in April to include the court section in the 2005 directory at an approximate cost of $9,200 to the Bar, While the committee's ultimate decision was to reinstate the judges' section, it was also decided that the section would be made available on the Web in the same format as the print version.
The court section of the 2005 Journal directory is available online now at floridabar.org along with links to court Web sites. The printed version of the directory will be available in September.
