Court issues positive judgment for Pharmacia Biotech in PerSeptive Biosystems case.


UPPSALA, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 1996--Pharmacia Biotech AB today announced that the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts The United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts is the Federal district court whose jurisdiction is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The first court session was held in Boston in 1789.  granted a summary judgment against PerSeptive Biosystems Inc., based on the company's failure to name two additional inventors in their "Perfusion Chromatography" patent. A forthcoming decision will ultimately determine the validity of the PerSeptive Biosystems patent.

PerSeptive Biosystems has until January 19 to correct the patent, at which time the court will hold a hearing to determine if PerSeptive's failure to name the correct inventors was based on deceptive intention. If deceptive intention is found, the patent will be invalidated in·val·i·date
