Court denies challenge to international phone service tender; Dolphin Group challenge to Barak Group denied.

The decision clears the way for the Barak Group to begin preparation implementing its proposed international telephone service, which was originally notified of the award on November 7, 1996. The Barak Group consists of MATAV Cable Systems Media (10%), Clalcom (44%), a subsidiary of Clal Industries, Sprint (25%), Deutsche Telecom (10.5%), and France Telecom (10.5%).

Commenting on the news, Robert Avi-Tal, President and Chief Executive Officer of MATAV said, "With this challenge behind us, we are ready to begin implementing this new international telephone service. Although the Dolphin Group can still appeal the District Court's decision, we feel we are ready to begin the necessary preparations."
