In order to encourage in-classroom event viewing, Safe Passage will be broadcast live and commercial-free on Tuesday, October 17, at 12pm (ET). Court TV anchor Catherine Crier and the Today show's Al Roker will reprise their roles as co-hosts of the live telecast. Drawing upon the far-reaching resources of this unique partnership, the program will feature the participation of 25 middle-school students from around the country assembled in the nation's capital. The special will focus upon some of the most common and difficult issues and problems of adolescence and discuss remedies and ways to deal with this passage of life. Safe Passage is Court TV's fourth annual collaboration in support of The Month of the Young Adolescent, and is part of the network's ongoing campaign to reveal the harmful effects of intolerance and hate, and highlight the positive ways to deal with diversity. New national partners offer the opportunity to expand the reach of the show. Safe Passage is slated to air during the YWCA Week Without Violence, an annual public education campaign that focuses on practical and sustainable solutions to violence in our home, schools, places of work and communities. By partnering with the YWCA and numerous others, including the National Middle School Association (NMSA), Family Education Network (FEN) and Cable in the Classroom, Court TV aims to bring individuals, organizations and communities across the nation together to develop solutions for a safer environment for our youth.
