) was advised by the Court today that its patent infringement patent infringement n. the manufacture and/or use of an invention or improvement for which someone else owns a patent issued by the government, without obtaining permission of the owner of the patent by contract, license or waiver.  lawsuit against RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, in the US District Court for the District of Maryland, has been transferred from Judge Alexander Williams to Judge Marvin J. Garbis. In a letter sent to counsel today, Judge Garbis stated, "My current intention is to schedule the trial of this case during the period November 29 through December 20". Judge Garbis also indicated that the Court would schedule a status conference for the first week of September. A subsequent notice from the Court then informed counsel for both parties that the status conference has been scheduled for September 1.
