Court Grants 3Com's Motion for Preliminary Injunction Against Xircom's RealPort and RealPort2 Products for Infringement of Patent.

) announced today that, in a patent infringement case against Xircom Corporation, Judge Tena Campbell of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah granted 3Com's motion for a preliminary injunction to prohibit Xircom from manufacturing, using, selling, offering to sell within the United States, or importing into the United States, dozens of products, including RealPort and RealPort2 products. The preliminary injunction will take effect upon the posting of a bond by 3Com, which management intends to do immediately. The court's order expressly prohibits the further manufacture, sale or importation by Xircom of 26 RealPort and RealPort2 products identified in the order (see list of products below), and any colorable False; counterfeit; something that is false but has the appearance of truth.  imitations of such products.

Background:

3Com Corporation, with 799 U.S. patents in its intellectual property portfolio, is an industry leader in technology innovation and offering practical products for its customers and partners.

Xircom, Inc. was acquired by Intel Corporation in 2001, after 3Com had filed its motion for a preliminary injunction on February 8, 2001. The court ruled on March 22, 2002, that 3Com was likely to prevail on its claim that Xircom infringes claim 29 of U.S. Patent # 6,146,209.

The following Xircom products were affected by the court's order: RBE-100BTX (Balanced Technology EXtended) A motherboard design from Intel introduced in 2004 that supersedes the ATX.
