Course Technology Sponsors AACC Cybersecurity Workshop; Premier IT Publisher Addresses the Need for IT Security Education Solutions.

 of Community Colleges' Cybersecurity Workshop, which will take place June 26 to 28 in Washington, DC.

The event, which was initiated and is co-sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF NSF - National Science Foundation ), will address the role of community colleges in cybersecurity education. Attendees will learn how institutions are grappling with this critical topic and develop curriculum to address the community's most pressing needs.

The goal of the program is to advise program officers at NSF, college faculty in information technology and related areas, and representatives from business, industry, and government about how resources at community colleges could be harnessed and expanded to contribute to the nations educational and workforce needs in computer, network, and information security.  represents more than 1,100 colleges serving 10 million students, which accounts for almost half (44%) of U.S. undergraduates. As part of its sponsorship, Course Technology Senior Vice President and Publisher, Kristen Duerr will speak on the opening night of the workshop to address Course Technology's commitment to the academic community's challenge in addressing the need for security courseware and curriculum. Other featured speakers include:
- What jobs could be filled by people with appropriate two-year degrees or certificates?

- What relevant courses and programs already exist and what models should be developed?

- What connections should be made between community college programs and university programs in computer science and information systems?

- What resources would enable community colleges to broaden IT and other offerings to address workforce needs in cybersecurity?

Course Technology is designing a line of courseware to educate students about many areas of security. In an effort to continue to support this area, Course Technology has also created an educational institute to train faculty on security.
