Courion Expands Global Reach With Another Strategic Managed Services Partner; Computacenter to Supply Courion's Identity Management Solutions in Europe.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2004

Courion(R) Corporation, a leading provider of self-service identity management solutions, today announced a strategic partnership agreement with Computacenter, Europe's leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services. Under the terms of the agreement, Computacenter will supply Courion's award-winning Identity Management Suite(TM) (IMS (1) See IP Multimedia Subsystem.

(2) (Information Management System) An early IBM hierarchical DBMS for IBM mainframes. IMS was widely implemented throughout the 1970s under MVS and continues to be used under z/OS.
) directly to clients and as a key component of its managed services An umbrella term for third-party monitoring and maintaining of computers, networks and software. The actual equipment may be inhouse or at the third-party's facilities, but the "managed" implies an ongoing effort; for example, making sure the equipment is running at a certain quality  offering, the Service Management Toolsuite (SMTS SMTS Space and Missile Tracking System

Courion's IMS is a natural fit for Computacenter's SMTS as the Computacenter offering is designed to maximize the value of IT and underpins the delivery of IT infrastructure services to clients. For example, incorporating PasswordCourier for self-service password reset Self-service password reset is defined as any process or technology that allows users who have either forgotten their password or triggered an intruder lockout to authenticate with an alternate factor, and repair their own problem, without calling the help desk.  will result in drastic reduction in manually handled call volume to the Computacenter Service Support Centers. The elimination of these password reset calls will free Computacenter service analysts to provide more and enhanced services to clients across Europe. Computacenter also plans to incorporate AccountCourier in future releases of SMTS in order to automate user provisioning The ability for customers to change voice and data services from their carriers online without having to place the order with a human representative. Web-based user provisioning lets you add and delete services and features from your browser. See automated provisioning.  for its managed service clients.

"Courion's Identity Management Suite is a strategic element of our Service Management Toolsuite because it provides the self-service capabilities our clients need," said Simon Brickett, SMTS Solutions Architect, Computacenter. "Its design is a perfect fit with our SMTS offering because it is modular, flexible and extensible and provides an optimum solution for our clients. IMS is offered as part of our managed services solution, or can be purchased directly with associated design, implementation and support according to according to

 client need."

Computacenter, as a user of the services it sells, has naturally implemented Courion's PasswordCourier(R) for automated password reset and synchronization for its own 5,000 employees in the UK as part of the SMTS v3.0 pilot. Automating the password management functions with self-service reduces calls to its own help desk, creating less dependency on the availability of support personnel and streamlining its own operations to more cost-effectively support staff. What's more, support costs can be minimized while actually increasing security with an even tighter authentication process and comprehensive audit trails.

"As Courion expands globally, managed service providers play an important role because they offer clients a value-add option for cost effectively supporting users," said Kurt Johnson Kurt Johnson (born March 23, 1963) is a professional American drag racing driver. He was born in Virginia, Minnesota, and currently resides in Buford, Georgia. He competes in the NHRA’s POWERade Drag Racing series, driving a Chevrolet Cobalt in the highly competitive Pro Stock , vice president of business development, Courion. "Implementing IMS internally as well as reselling our entire suite of self-service identity management solutions will reduce the number of calls Computacenter security analysts must field. This, in turn, will provide Computacenter with greater flexibility to deliver an enhanced client experience and the ability to offer more services through its service support centers to clients."
