Courage under fire. (reader forum).
In your interview with Salma Salma (săl`mə), variant of Salmon (1.) Hayek ["The Velocity of Salma," December 10], she says, "I know I'm not gay. It's clear to me. If I was, I wouldn't hide it." She also criticizes many gays "because they are afraid to be who they are and be judged for it."
Perhaps Ms. Hayek shouldn't be so quick to boast about her own hypothetical courage in a situation she will never be in. Or to criticize those who are and have more trouble with it than she likes to imagine that she would.
