Coupons, Inc. Launches Veri-FI, Fraud Detection System for Consumer-Printed Coupons.

Business Editors

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 2003

Coupons, Inc. (http://solutions.coupons.com), the leading provider of consumer-printed coupon marketing and technology solutions, has introduced Veri-FI(TM) -- an automated fraud detection system which makes consumer-printed coupons more secure than traditionally delivered coupons. The new system is designed to allow retailers to detect counterfeit and fraudulently altered coupons and is offered free of charge. The system is live at http://www.veri-fi.com and can be used immediately to authenticate all Coupons, Inc.-powered coupons, including those coupons already in circulation.

Veri-FI further enhances Coupons, Inc.'s leading consumer-printed coupon technology and services. All Coupons, Inc. coupon campaigns benefit from extensive security features and the company's unparalleled experience in the field, including CipherKey(TM) encryption technology, multi-level print control, unique coupon identifiers encrypted in a two-dimensional barcode, tight controls on printing coupons to anything other than a paper printer, and rolling expiration dates based on the date the coupon is printed.

Coupons, Inc.'s Veri-FI(TM) integrates with all of Coupons, Inc.'s current delivery systems for consumer-printed coupons: Web site delivery using webBricks(TM) or adBricks(TM), e-mail delivery using eBricks(TM) and oneBricks(TM), direct mail using CustomerCare Print & Mail(TM), and online coupon portals powered by Coupons, Inc. All Coupons, Inc.-powered coupon carry unique Veri-FI(TM) codes.

Veri-FI(TM) is designed to help retailers identify counterfeit or altered coupons. By entering the unique Veri-FI(TM) code appearing on the face of the coupon, the retailer is provided with detailed information about the product and value of the coupon and its conditions of use. Any alteration of the presented coupon will be immediately apparent.

"As incidents of fraud with traditional manufacturers' coupons increase, including consumers selling newspaper-distributed and scanned coupons via Internet auction sites and bargain sites, Coupons, Inc. has developed technologies to aid companies and marketers in deterring fraud by providing secure consumer-printed coupons via the Internet," said Steven Boal, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Coupons, Inc. "Veri-FI(TM) continues this commitment by bringing fraud detection capabilities to the retailer for the first time."
