Couples to build another resort.
Couples Resorts announced plans for fifth resort, reports Caribbean
Net News (Aug. 25, 2006). The new resort will be situated near the
Harmony Cove luxury tourism project in Trelawny parish. The 370-room
Trelawny resort (estimated cost: US$57 million) will be built on
38-acres owned by Lee Issa, Couples Resorts' chairman. Construction
should be completed in 2008, said CEO Glenn Lawrence, adding "we
started with a single resort, Couples Ocho Rios, over 28 years ago and
now offer 900 rooms spread amongst four resorts." Couples Swept
Away has just completed a US$15 million expansion, updates and
refurbishments are ongoing at Couples Ocho Rios and there are future
plans to add rooms and facilities to Couples Sans Souci, he noted.
