Couple Czech in for wacky fundraiser; WOLVERHAMPTON.


AN intrepid duo from the Black Country are heading for an autombile adventure as part of this year's Cannonball Run.

 and Bunty Hundal, from Wolverhampton, will drive from London to Prague in the event which takes its name from the classic Burt Reynolds movie.

The 1981 film is a kind of live action version of the Wacky Races cartoon and features a madcap race across America The Race Across America, or RAAM, is an ultra marathon bicycle race across the USA that started in 1982 as the Great American Bike Race. RAAM is arguably the best-known and longest annual endurance cycling event in the world. . The 2006 trek, which starts on Sunday, sees hundreds of drivers from all over the UK take part.

The Wolverhampton duo will be raising cash for Hope House Hospice for children in Wolverhampton.

One of the backers of the car, a black Mercedes, is Wiseberry Services, a wholsesale drinks business based in Carters Green, West Bromwich.

Sponsor Jay Varn, of Wiseberry Services, said: "We hope they raise lots of money for a very good local cause."
