Parrish was one of more than 1,000 entrants who were required to answer questions about the personal and environmental benefits of mowing without a grass catcher. Using a mulching mower to mow without a bag allows the clippings to fall back into the lawn; this provides lawns with a natural fertilizer, and saves water and time. The Mow Down Pollution Partnership is one of several task forces State-wide working on a grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board to help reduce the amount of green waste taken to local landfills.
