County of Orange Contracts Worldwide Wireless Networks for Mobile Wireless Wide Area Network System.

ORANGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2000

Worldwide Wireless Networks, Inc (OTC BB: WWWN) announced today the signing of a contract with the County of Orange, California.

WWWN will design and implement a pilot mobile wireless Wide Area Network (WAN) for the County Civic Center that encompasses 15 buildings, including, the County Courthouse, the Central Justice Center, the County Law Library and the Santa Ana City Hall.

The system is intended to demonstrate the role that wireless Internet connectivity can play in enhancing County employees' productivity by increasing the time spent in the performance of their field duties.

This pilot system will provide the foundation to determine potential applications throughout the County of Orange for employees like parole officers, building inspectors, health services personnel and others who spend considerable time out in the field.

The ability to access the County's Intranet for report processing and records access will increase the information flow to individuals and reduce unproductive time, as well as allow County employees to conduct business as though they were at their desks while working anywhere in the County Civic Center.

For example, public defense attorneys, while in the Central Justice Center, would utilize the secure wireless connection from their laptops to connect to the County's Intranet. From the Intranet, the attorneys would then be able to read and respond to their e-mail, access agency databases and legal briefs as well as the Internet.
