County forced to make FA Cup move.


Newport County Newport County may refer to:

 have been forced to switch their big FA Cup tie with Swansea City to the Liberty Stadium.

The Exiles had originally hoped to stage the Welsh derby at their modest 4,500-capacity Spytty Park home on the weekend of November 11-12.

But after it was announced that the first-round clash would not be televised, Newport County revealed they can't afford to fund the large police presence needed for the all Welsh affair.

The non-league outfit earned around pounds 100,000 when that first-round replay against Blackpool was televised by Sky in 2001 and have already banked nearly pounds 20,000 from this season's FA Cup run.
