County Cricket: Sutcliffe's best knock boosts Lancashire's title bid.


LANCASHIRE and Warwickshire were forced to watch the rain ruin part of the second day of their Liverpool Victoria The Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society Limited was founded in 1843. When play started, it was clear what Lancashire's intentions were -Sutcliffe and Astle hit most of the 117 runs in 26 morning overs.

In Division Two, Surrey looked to set Glamorgan a huge total to win at the Brit Oval but were halted by a trio of late wickets.

After their first innings culminated for 433, Glamorgan were dismissed for just 269. The hosts were reduced to 45-3 in their second effort, but will still start day three 209 runs ahead.
