County's Hotels learn Dynalectric will leave the light on for them.

With the recent completion of five projects in San Diego County, Dynalectric Co. says it has now wired more than 5,000 local hotel rooms.

In the last 18 months, the company has completed electrical work on The Grand Del Mar, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina, Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa on Mission Bay, and San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. And in December, Dynalectric expects to complete electrical work, including fire alarm, audiovisual and air-conditioning controls, for the new Hilton San Diego Bayfront, says Executive Vice President Channey Doud.

Dynalectric is a unit of Emcor Group Inc., a Connecticut-based Fortune 500 company with $5.9 billion in annual revenues

"We're pretty diverse," said Jim Peterson, president and chief executive officer of Dynalectric San Diego. "We do a lot of the low-voltage systems in addition to basic electric work."

Jeff Hall, president and CEO of Manchester Construction, the general contractor of the $270 million, 249-room Grand Del Mar, says Dynalectric's services lead to more efficient designs that save money and reduce construction time.

"All the designs are buildable, but some are cheaper because of the efficiency in which they go together," Hall said. "That's extremely important, especially in the market we're in. Because of the slowdown in construction, projects need to find a way to be as economical as possible."
