What's the attraction? An interesting canal walk Canal Walk is a 125 000 m² shopping centre in Cape Town, South Africa, built around a series of canals. The centre forms the heart of a mixed-use development known as Century City, which includes office blocks, residential areas and the Ratanga Junction theme park.  with lots to see and contrasting the bustle of the city with the quiet of the countryside.

How long is it? A linear walk of six miles with shorter circular walks if the P&R bus is not used (buses do not run on Sundays but they do run on public holidays).

Let's go: For car users take the P&R bus into the city and at the drop off point in Frodsham Street walk back to the canal, down the steps and turn left. Train passengers cross straight over from the station by the Queen Hotel, walk along City Road to the canal and down the steps by the Emporium.

Now continue along the canal with the city wall on your left, past Northgate Locks and into Chester Visitor Moorings where you cross to the other side of the canal. The walk continues along the canal for a few miles until you reach Caughall Bridge (No. 134).

Leave the canal here and follow Cycleway 56 which takes you through the zoo grounds and into Flag Lane North. At the A41 turn right back to the carpark. Train users take a bus back to the city.

If the P&R buses are not running, a circular walk of approximately five miles starts at the carpark. Go left along the A41 and turn right along Demage Lane and Upton Lane to the A5116. Cross over the dual carriageway to The Bridleway and follow the footpath to the canal at Knolls Bridge (No. 131). Turn right and continue along the canal as for the main walk.

For train users there is a walk to Bache railway station Bache railway station (pronounced IPA: /ˈbæk/) serves the Bache area in the north of the city of Chester, England. It lies on the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail network, on the Chester branch.  of about four miles. Start as for the main walk and leave the canal at Knolls Bridge (No. 131). Follow the footpath and where the path splits keep right to a metal gate and stile.

Go left along a lane which leads to Deva Lane and the A5116. Cross over, go right, then left into Beechway and walk along Upton Drive to Bache railway station.
