CountryBaskets France elects Avoir Fiscal reclaim.NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1996--The CountryBaskets Index Fund Inc. has elected to reclaim the "avoir fiscal" tax credit on the Fund's French series. Avoir fiscal is a complex tax treatment that involves a reclaim procedure with the French tax authorities. As a result of the election, CountryBaskets France (GXF GXF Graphics Exchange Format (file extension) GXF General Exchange Format ) will receive 127.5% of the declared dividends of the stocks held in its portfolio. Over 95% of French dividends are paid by French companies from May 13 through July 31. This election will enable the Fund's dividend to track more closely the dividends of the underlying portfolio stocks. CountryBaskets France will pay its dividend late in the fourth quarter.
